I was born in the Netherlands back in 1966, and I am currently 58 years old.
Exactly 10 years ago, I had some medical issues that turned out to be rather serious due to a lot of scuba diving and freediving and a herniated disc.
This was the start of the quest to become healthier.
I have lived in (sub) tropical parts of the world for most of my life, and the sun has caused some serious skin damage, which, unfortunately, I now have to live with it.
To keep it super simple (KISS principle), Brian Johnson (the famous bio-hacker) seems to have the same issue and instead of losing too much time on what to do, I decided to trust a billionaire on this skin issue, a man who has really nothing to gain selling BS to anyone and is testing everything he experiments with, which obviously is super interesting for anyone that is into biohacking.
After my medical issues 10 years ago, I became a vegan for 4 months, although it cleaned up my body after decades of eating the normal Euro diet (SAD in the US), I did lose a considerable amount of muscle mass and started to show some of the symtoms many vegans have. (*1) I slowly introduced some animal products into my diet again and now try to eat the best out of the 2 worlds.
I also had a go at the carnivore diet (2022) but after not even a week, I knew it was not for me.
I was fit, relatively low bodyfat percentage (12%)
Around 2017 I discovered Ben Greenfield, who introduced me to this amazing world of biohacking and longevity.
I started to read and absorb as much information as possible on the subject and bit by bit started to integrate my new knowledge in my daily life.
Breathing techniques became an essential part of my routines, which I had discovered through a fantastic yoga breath work (2018) course I did with the art of living, and still consider it an essential part of my lifestyle.
(1*) I am not really keen on this never ending carnivore versus vegan diet.
It is obvious people can really thrive on the vegan diet, I mean,... let us face it, dear carnivores, Brian Johnson, the most measured human being ever, is on a plant based vegan diet and is doing extremely well. The same thing for vegans, carnivores aren't massively dying of heart attacks and strokes.
It is highly like that 99.9% of all gold medal winners in the Olympic Games will be omnivores.
* Me, in 2023 and believe it or not, the grey in my hair has significantly decreased.
